I’m back! I really hope you all missed me. I know it has been ages since my last post, but this lazy lady has been anything but lazy. So what the heck have I been up to?
JULY – Paris and London!
This July I was fortunate enough to take some much needed time away from my job in digital advertising and go travel Europe with my husband and parents! My Hubby is originally from England and we try to make it out there at least once a year. This trip was a special occasion however since his Sister was getting married in York!
Shockingly Mr. Lazy Lady has never been to Paris. I decided that it was time to change this and have some time alone before we met up with family and friends in London. I found a cheap flight through Delta and booked a short day and a half trip to France before making our way to England.
I was a bit nervous that taking so much time off from my normal routine would cancel out all of the hard work I had put into this year, so I made the hubby promise that we would do our best to encourage one another to stay responsible and find time to stay active.
We stayed at this adorable hotel in the heart of Paris, near the Paris Opera House and walked our asses off. My Fitbit hit 31,000 steps that night. I kid you not, we saw all of these landmarks in one evening and made time for dinner and drinks.
We then took off to London and met up with my parents who were visiting England for the first time! We wanted to make sure that their first trip to London would be one to remember. I created an itinerary full of touristy things to do and see. There wasn’t one day that all of us didn’t hit well over 10,000 steps. Walking around London and making healthy lighter choices for lunch, kept me feeling pretty decent about my commitment to health.
One of my favorite memories from the trip actually involved fitness. I guarantee that had this been me a year ago, I would have never ever done this. The hubby and I woke up early before a day of sightseeing, we laced up our tennis shoes and quietly made our way out of our rental. The streets were already bustling with Londoner’s trying to get to work on time. We began our jog around the streets of London and made our way to Tower Bridge and The Tower of London. I felt an overwhelming sense of appreciation. I am so lucky to have this opportunity to run past so much history and beauty. We crossed over the Themes and then onto old cobbled streets. We wound our way through the shops and office buildings until finally finding a place next to the river. Push ups and planks don’t seem so bad when you are looking out onto a bustling beautiful city full of so much history and lore.
Here are some of my highlights and cheat meals of my time in London.
After our busy days in London, it was time for some much needed R&R. We headed north on the train to Northampton, where my husband grew up. We were greeted by his parents and family and treated like kings! His mother is a fabulous cook and had a Victoria Sponge cake waiting for us at home with tea. How can you say no to sweets and tea? Not to mention that there is a local pub with in walking distance.
My obsession during my time in Northampton had to be a pint of Kronenberg 1664. I also indulged in some fish and chips with mushy peas. The hubby was gone during this time on a bachelor party for his soon to be brother-in-law. He was “struggling” with finding time to workout between all of the bars they were hitting up in Spain.
I was doing my best to stay motivated. Before every pub visit, I would do a body weight work out of some sort. His mom was nice enough to lend me some of her free weights. I also went for a run once the hubby was back around the canals and fields. It was a perfect way to start the day.
Finally, the big day had arrived and we made our way to York to celebrate the happy couple’s nuptials. This part of the trip was a blur. I will 100% admit to not working out and drinking/eating everything. We had a fabulous time at the wedding. They hosted it at the gorgeous fairy-tale- like venue called The Normans. It was a converted farm that was breathtaking. My Sister-in-law glowed and looked stunning. I couldn’t be happier for both of them. I will at least defend myself in saying that I danced my heart out that night – that was a workout.
AUGUST – Home, NYC, Dallas
So, now I bet you are wondering why I haven’t posted anything since being home if I came back in August. Well, as soon as I landed back in the USA it was back to work and off to quarterly business reviews. That weekend I flew out to NYC and ate so much delicious food. A week later it was on to Dallas, TX. Don’t worry, I was not about to pass up on some Texas BBQ. Below are my food pics.
I also have some exciting news. I have been cast in a show in Denver 🙂 I went to school for theater arts, so whenever I can get back on stage to perform I jump on it. I am currently working on a very challenging role in which I do need to show a bit of skin, so for the past month, it has been a lot of salads and trips to the gym. I also gave up beer (I still sneak one or two when I can) but I am starting to see the results.
